Two day nature study camp for G8 students of NPS Kudlu branch at Bannerghatta Biological park on 30-31st July 2024
“Outdoor classroom“- Developing deeper connection with nature.
A two day nature education camp was organized for Grade 8 students of NPS Kudlu at JLR camp at Bannerghatta Biological Park.
Thoughtful discussions were held on the need for conservation and sustainable practices. Samples of soil, water, rocks were collected to study their nature.
The mutualistic benefits, support system of forest & wildlife, soil & water (perennial streams, cascading lakes) was experienced first-hand by students.
Learning and play goes hand in hand in nature. Activities like watching animal and bird behaviour from up close, photographing and documenting them helped students in gathering valuable evidences & insights about the inter dependence between ourselves and the natural world.
Students learnt about the management of a biological park and about In-situ & Ex-situ conservation.
Once the value or role of biodiversity is understood, the purpose of conservation becomes clearer and focused.
The students have taken up projects based on topics which they picked up during the camp and will continue to explore possible solutions for the growing problems of our environment and nature.
