Jayamangali Blackbuck Conservation Reserve Visit
In February a half day field nature study trail was organised at Jayamangali. This place is small grassland near Tumkur with few good lakes which are seasonal and remain full till February-March.
It is the best place to watch the grassland species like Blackbuck, Hares with a few Leopards and Bear in the area.

We sighted a lots of Balckbuck in the open. They are fast running Gazzales of plains and often stay near the fields.
The Lake invites beautiful winged friends from different part of the country as they migrate here during winters.
The spot billed Ducks, The Northern Pintail, Northern Shovellor, Knob billed ducks are few Migratory water birds visitng the area.
Students were lucky to spot different Species of Shrike like the Grey and Long tailed.
The small grassland birds like silverbill, Lark, Indian bush Chats, Robins, Green Warblers can be spotted and observed in their natural habitat.
The Grassland provides an excellent habitat and study site for rulers of the sky with many winter migratory Raptors (Hunting birds) which can be seen using the hot air currents to hover and fly around. It gives an opportunity to watch their different styles of foraging and flying behaviour.

The day ended with lots of observations, better understaning and importance of Nature with all its rich biodiversity.
