After a long gap of two years due to covid lockdown, children were more than eager and excited to CONNECT with nature & hit the outdoors. What better way to channelize youth exuberance than summer nature study camps. In the series of five camps this was the first and the response was overwhelming. Forty-five students in the age group 8-17 from different schools of Bangalore joined in the camp. The students were introduced to the pristine forest and its habitants in Nagarhole. They played many games to understand the relationships and inter dependencies between all life forms, thus understanding the importance of conserving nature.

Putting the learning, observations and ideas into small project works based on various themes, was the best part of the camp. What have they learnt?, what are the problems? How can they solve them? were some challenging tasks given  to the teams to empower them and make them more responsible towards protecting our nature for all.

These excercises also subtly teach soft skills like discipline, team work, communication skills, presentation and confidance building.

The roles of forest trees in maintaining the balance in nature and provide life to all the inhabitants was explained during the field trails. The amazing and rare sightings of Indian Turtle, Lesser Adjutant Stork, the very important and highly endangered scavenger- Red Headed Vulture and the Giant Malabar Squirrel will be remembered by the kids for a long time.

It was an enriching experience for all the kids and a memorable one too.
