“Vanishing Grasslands”
When we travel in central India (specially in Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh) on the beautiful highways we come across vast grasslands and plateaus with it’s mesmerizing scenery.
These are not wastelands as seen by many which are meant for only development but are useful in supporting carbon sequestration, ground water recharge and providing useful habitat to many forms of wildlife.
It will be unfair and unwise not to talk about them and raise awareness about these beautiful landscapes around Bhigwan and it’s amazing biodiversity, from top predators like Leopards and Wolves to chameleon, lizards,visiting migratory raptors to scavengers like Hyaenas and tiny decomposers.
The nocturnal creatures are equally valuable and beautiful.
We not only should leave these habitats for these magnificent wildlife but should also protect the last remaining grasslands and plateaus of our country or will keep regretting the extinction of some of the most magnificent creations of God.

Often considered as wastelands, these landscapes extend far beyond our eyesight and imagination.
Wolves are the top predators of Grassland habitats and provide an ideal home to other small predators like Jackal, Foxes.
They shelter the many prey animals like Chinkara (Indian Gazelle), deers, rodents. Ground birds like Francolin, Partridge, Quails, Coursers, Peafowl, Larks, Owls etc.
We must save and protect the last remaining grasslands and it’s enormous biodiversity.
